2006 01 19 : Darfur, Sudan

Today, through a weird set of circumstances, i spend the day in Montreal. At first this seemed like a shitty inconvenience, but it actually gave me the opportunity to meet with my friend Emily whom I haven't seen in way too long. Anyway, to make a long story short, after spending the day I realized two things.

One. This world has many amazing people in it. And in people there is amazing energy which can do positive things.

Two. It is all about finding something to funnel your energy into, and using this to make a positive difference.

I guess I was inspired today, Emily's passion is to raise and generate awareness surrounding the atrocities in Darfur, Sudan. She's organizing students and making a difference. It's pretty amazing. I guess idealistically, this ramble stems from the feeling that we can all make a difference. And it is up to us, especially as the youth, who will shape our world of tomorrow to initiate these changes. So cheers to all of you out there already doing something positive, for I am indebted to you, and I wish I was doing something equally honorable with my time. Regardless, check out this Amnesty International site, it gives some background on Darfur, and if anything it should make all be grateful to be privileged enough to have access to food, water, shelter and not be fearing for out lives. And perhaps, perhaps, it may act as a catalyst to create change in the lives of those around us, maybe not in Darfur, but even in our own cities and towns, just a change for the positive. To make us realize how privileged we are and try to share this with those whom aren't. Because, change can only happen one act at a time, right?

This is a piece by Vancouver artist Ben Tour.

Recently he did a graphic for Joystick, I couldn't be more stoked.

If you want to see more of his insane work you can check out www.thetourshow.com and www.blkmrktgallery.com

Sorry I've been so lame and haven't been updating.

This last week has just been out of control. I will make an effort to update often this week. I promise.

Here's an old sketch that is still fun... I think.
