So, sorry about the lack of updates over the past 2 weeks. We've been trying to launch a new component of this site and it has become a major headache.

Here's a shot of recent work from Ben Tour, he' s Vancouver artist who has done a bunch of stuff for Joystick...

I'm into this song these days... Blake can attest to that. I'm listening to it way too much.

2006 12 11 : Shooting myself in the Foot

Sometimes I feel obliged, I feel obliged to do many things, and of the many, this website has become one. I don't always want to post on here and I think it shows. So instead of another half assed update I'm going to be straight up. I don't want to be doing this. So why not use it as a platform. An outlet. A way to get ideas off my chest. Because that is what a blog is...

I've been thinking a lot. I returned home from India on the 4th of December, that would make it one week exactly since I've been home. And well, life is weird over here. Life is weird everywhere, but it is something so funny to come home see the same things in a totally different light.

It's not like I'm saying that North America is bad, it's just that I don't really know what to think of what the deal is over here. There's so much insecurity and complication of life which is created to serve monetary means. When life is so amazing and easy, there is this unfounded strife and concern to live up to ideals and obligations which are really, not natural nor necessary.

We don't need a new car, and bigger house or a new CD to be happy. This consumption of products is such a temporary happiness. But those longstanding truly giving things which bring me happiness, cannot be bought. They need to be found, leaned, cherished and embraced.

It's bizarre to be writing this as the director of a company who's bottom line is to sell product, and it's sad to me right now that that's what it comes down to. But that's the bottom line. I feel like Joystick is a product, like so many others that we're taught to 'need', but perhaps it embodies something more, something creative and previously ignored, and this association and ideal is how I can justify its existence. But just know, that you don't need to have my product to be happy. Just be, and find happiness in yourself and your life. Where it's at and what it is. Because perhaps that's the biggest gift my trip really gave me, is a refresher on ideas which I already carried in myself, to reinforce the fact that you are fine as you are, and you don't need more.

Take care,

anthony
