2007 01 04 : Panic.com

posted by Anthony Boronowski
I’m in Nelson, BC, at a cat skiing lodge called Snowwater. It’s pretty sweet here, now that we’ve actually arrived…

Yesterday Tanner, CP(director of The Bigger Picture), Greg (Oakley Ski Manager), and Chris (Photog) has an interesting travel day. They were supposed to fly into a town 4 hours from here at around 2pm, after a short drive they would have arrived in Nelson at 7pm, time enough for dinner and some rest. Well, their flight couldn’t land because of weather, and the next flight left at 10. They grabbed that flight, and started to drive to Nelson. Because of all the snow, the drive took a little longer than anticipated. They arrived into town at 5am, jacked on Red Bull with the knowledge of a forecasted sunny day in the back of their minds.

As forecasted, today was sunny, so, up at 7, straight out to the lodge with the intent of heling. Like always, it clouded over just as we got our shit together. 12 hours of panic to miss our window by an hour. Pretty typical, I can’t even remember the number of times that this happens. I’m just thankful that I slept more than 2 hours last night… So, our day consisted of some chilled out powder runs and snowmobiling. Kye, Tanner, and I found a fun looking rock jib which we built and will shred tomorrow. Not really all that exciting, when compared to getting in the bird.

The lodge here is mint though, 5 course meals, wireless internet and comfortable quarters. Better than my setup at home for sure. It’s just too bad that I have to share a room with Seth… well maybe I could be sharing with Cusson, but I won’t even get started on that.
Enroute to Snowwater Lodge.
Welcome to Nelson. You want cat skiing or hydroponics? How about both?
Tanner and Kye, signing their lives away. Literally.
Our crew for the next 14 days, L->R Treadway, Kye, Seth, Tanner, and ME!
Our set up at Snowwater... life's pretty good here, a heli in the backyard always improves the scenery.
patrick m.: [ 2007-01-05 ]yeah men... you can be so happy... you have snow :( nice pictures...
anT: [ 2007-01-05 ]Snow always is good for sure. Makes for good times...
Robbie: [ 2007-01-08 ]so jealous - sucks being stuck in an office in London

2007 01 03 : Bukowski

posted by Anthony Boronowski
I don't think I've posted this already, if i have, I'm sorry, but Bukowski kicks ass and is worth 2 reads anyway.

Was given to me by my good friend Estelle- thanks girl- love to ya-

"question and answer"
he sat naked and drunk in a room of summer
night, running the blade of the knife
under his fingernails, smiling, thinking
of all the letters he had received
telling him that
the way he lived and wrote about
that--
it had kept them going when
all seemed
truly
hopeless.

putting the blade on the table, he
flicked it with a finger
and it whirled
in a flashing circle
under the light.

who the hell is going to save
me? he
thought.

as the knife stopped spinning
the answer came:
you're going to have to
save yourself.

still smiling,
a: he lit a
cigarette
b: he poured
another
drink
c: gave the blade
another
spin.

2006 12 31 : Haines, AK

posted by Anthony Boronowski
JP Auclair shot this and did all the Photoshop work... I hope it's alright that I posted it...

This was shot during a night out in Haines, Alaska. Things got pretty out of hand this evening. Tim, our ski guide, is trying helplessly to pour a beer on Tyler to no avail. JP and Julien did an edit in UP 1.2.1 to document this fine evening if you want to check more.

Happy New Year.
