At Amoeba Music in Hollywood, store music buyer Kristen Frederick said: "For every 50 Cent CD we sell, we sell two Kanyes."
An Amazon.com spokeswoman said the site will be tracking sales for each album via a graphic on its music page all week. At midday Tuesday, West was outpacing 50 Cent more than 2 to 1.
"It's probably at 3 to 1, with Kanye outselling 50 with our sales so far," Carl Alvarez, urban buyer for the Virgin Entertainment Group, said. "I anticipated 60% of people picking up both, but we anticipated Kanye selling more."

I've been spending most of my days painting lately. Today on a break i rode my bike about 20 blocks East of my home to Vancouver's Chinatown. I haven't been in a while and it was rad to feel so out of place so close to home. Not much English in that 3 block radius.

These are Bau (spelling?) Buns. Basically steamed buns with filling, pork, egg whatever. Haven't had these since I came home from Asia, long overdue.
I lived on these things in China, good snacking.
Big fish. About 3-4 feet long.
I have no ideas what these things are, nor what they're used for.
Chickens.
Do you remember visiting me at the old studio, strange to think I used to be in that part of town every day for like half a year, everything was cheap, and I even got used to the medicine shop smells, but when 6pm rolled around, everything shut down instantly, locked up, prison styles. I think I miss the good bubble tea you can buy there, and yes it's like a completely differently world.
I used to eat those buns all the time when living in Japan. Picking was always such a confusing process because the labels were written in kanji. You never knew if you were going to get sweet pork or corn and fish roe. Half of them were just tricks on foreigners, I swear.

Well, I'm still learning how to use bitTorrents properly, but apparently I'm not quite the man yet.
I wanted to post some new stuff off the Kanye album. But I can't get a proper download of it. All i'm getting is songs but with super annoying glitches. The closest I've found is this link...

www.smokingsection.net is a really good place to get advance copies of albums, and they are always posted without glitches (though they are sometimes clean versions).
it's mostly rap and such though.
also, they often post entire artist discographies.

Today I was reading a copy of Vice magazine. I read an article by a kid who was interviewing this skate guy turned artist. The just of the interview was how the whole DIY aura surrounding skateboarding influenced his art, and how that was such an integral part of his work. Just putting his shit out there. No matter how raw or shitty it was. He was creating, if you liked it or not. He went on to comment on how many "Art School" kids he'd met were petrified to show their shit, wondering what was the point in making shit if you're never gonna show it.
So... this inspired me a bit. I don't really like these shoes that much. They're not my best work, by a long shot. I'm not even that proud of them. But i made 'em this afternoon, and I'm throwing them out there. It's an excercise in creating. And that's half of the battle sometimes, just giving myself the room to create... Good paintings to come, working all week on new 'ish.
