I read a photographer named Alec Soth's blog a lot.

He posted this poem and it feels so relevant on so many levels to my current feelings surrounding my university educational experience. Standardized eduction is a bizarre concept...
When I Heard the Learned Astronomer
by Walt Whitman
When I heard the learn’d astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide,
and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with
much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.

The other night I went to the fair. It's all about halloween and getting scared. It's been a long time since I went to the fair, so much fun...
Lights and rides. I felt like a kid again.
Anticipation!
Front row!
I forgot how boring ferris wheels are... gosh.
Gone and done it. BANG.
This is my favorite ride, of all the coasters and haunted houses I like the swings. I find that too funny.
This little girl was looking all excited for the swings too.
Swings!
Dancing with the underworld.

I’m in university right now. A lot of the time the work I do feels really irrelivent and useless. But then I’ll have a class which inspires me.
I’m in a media development class, and last week we did a sound design class. It made me reflect on the way radio has been forgotten. Radio is such a powerful medium, it made me want to highlight it on here.
If you have the time, go and check out this link, it's well worth it.

I’d recommend listening to the entire program, but if you don’t have time check out from 29:04-34:27. You can access it through a streaming audio option on the middle left of the page, click on the ‘full episode’ link in orange.
Powerful stuff.

I went to a premier for Idea and Fashion show. I didn't really shoot many photos. And i didn't do any good ones either...
Anyway, Joystick sponsored it. but i didn't really want to do a product giveaway like every other brand, so i spent the afternoon painting a picture to give away.
The perfect premier photo. Crowd, screen, audio, and giveaways... wow, rad.
This is the painting I gave away. Acrylic on cotton mounted on cardboard.
Darina's the shit. Gold biatches! Know you know.

I went to Calgary this past weekend for Freshtival... Some fotos....
Vancouver to Calgary.
At one point I didn't feel like looking out the window so I watched Dorothy The Explorer. Quite an educational experience.
Fresh in Calgary.
The first night I got there I might have not gone to the movie premieres. Well, maybe not for the entire time. I ditched out early and went to a concert.
I saw this guy play who's named Greg Gillis. Some people call him Girl Talk. It was pretty fun, yeah. Dance!
I shot this photo too. I thought it was pretty, maybe you do too. I donna.
This is from the next day. Some buildings in downtown Calgary.
Another building in Calgary, but not downtown.
This is where the Freshtival took place, 'The Uptown Theater' on 8th Ave.
Poster signing. L->R: Mike Henitiuk, Me, TJ, Michelle, JP.
Tanner signing for a kid who's stoked.
Between showings Cody Lynge of Orage was playing some bizarre popcorn game with Michelle Parker. It got pretty intense.
I'm so glad Michelle won. Because if she didn't I would have never witnessed this air punch. And it's pretty amazing.
I took this picture of JP.
And then I took this picture of a picture of this Italian guy. They're almost the same. I thought that was funny.
I also took this picture of a picture of these two Italian guys together.
And then I took this picture of Steve and Sara, it's almost the same and pretty funny too. Steve and Sara put this event on. Big thanks go out to them for all their efforts and organization. Thanks for making this weekend happen! That's all I got from Calgary...
